Fireplace

 Since we moved in, Nathan has wanted to repair our wood burning fireplace. 

This week, the work began. It's a big job - repairing bricks on the outside of chiminey, and lining the inside of the chimney.

We are very excited to sit by a crackling fire.

Soccer Star

 Allison asked to play soccer this spring so we signed her up for the Leawood League. This is her first time playing but she's picking it up quickly. Practices are on Mondays and games on Saturdays.

 

Happy Easter

 I'm thankful that Nathan was off today so that we could enjoy the holiday together. Nathan hid the eggs I'd stuffed throughout the year last night and only 3 were stolen by squirrels. 

We had a big breakfast (waffles with jelly beans), then headed off to church where Allison had her 2nd Easter Egg hunt.

Next we had lunch at the Hermann's house, and there, yep, you guessed it. Egg hunt #3.

Warm Days

 Today was 25 degrees so while Nathan and I raked flower beds, Allison put on her bathing suit and played with water balloons all afternoon.

 

Daddy Daughter Dance

 Tonight was the annual Whitefield DDD. This year's theme was Hoedown - mainly because we needed a venue that would hold 130 people and this "barn" outside the city limits was available.  I was on the comittee along with 2 other women and while the party was a huge success - there was a lot of behind the scenes work. 

Most of the work and pressure I put on myself. Print and cut 130 stickers? Sure! Print and cut 130 tattoos? Sure! Bake and Ice 130 cookies in the shape of a cowboy boot? SURE!

It really was worth it to see how much fun everyone had. Allison was in her element and danced to Taylor Swift like she was front row at her concert. 

I felt lucky to be there as a chaperone since I helped organize the dance.

 

Easter Party

 Today was my last party as the second grade room parent. The party had an Easter theme so I made some sugar cookies and ordered some food dye palettes so kids could PYO (Paint Your Own) cookies.

The kids really liked decorating the sugar cookies.

I bought these sticker crosses from Hobby Lobby and the kids stuck gems to them. I also attached a thread to the back so they could hang them up at home.
