Missouri State Fair

Nathan and I went to the Restoration House Gala last January and bid on a Missouri State Fair package. It was for 4 tickets to the fair, 4 tickets to the rodeo, and $30 for the Brick Front Grill (a Mediterranean restaurant in Sedalia).

Since kids 5 and under are free, we met up with April and Ryan McKay and their two kids so that we could share our tickets (both their kids are 5 and under). April and Ryan are both Missouri natives so we ended up running into two couples that they knew at the fair. One of the couples had a little girl Allison's age and they became fast friends.

One highlight was when April was picked out of the crowd to represent the Red Team of pigs at the Hedrick's Racing Pigs.
Nathan and I went to the Brick Front Grill for a delicious lunch before we met April and Ryan at the fair gates at 1pm. We wandered the grounds, went through the home ec. and animals tents/barns and then headed to the rodeo at 7pm.

On our way out of the fair we were able to get a perfect side view of the Alan Jackson concert. We stayed for a couple of songs and Allison and I danced to "Summertime Blues."

We left the rodeo early because Allison was bored (she doesn't like to sit and watch, she'd rather play) and we had a 90 minute drive home. We were all very tired from a long (but very fun) time at the state fair.
