Dragon Boats

There is ALWAYS something going on in Kansas City. Today we watched the dragon boat races on the river that runs through the plaza. There was a Chinese Festival and part of Ward Parkway was shut down. We watched traditional dancing, drumming, and then the dragon boat races. The races were a little awkward because it was clear (from the constant crashing) that most of the paddlers had never paddled before. Nathan even got in on the action when a boat nearly crashed right where we were sitting but he jumped up and cushioned the blow and helped them get back on course.

It was interesting how the majority of Asian children were there with their white parents celebrating Chinese culture. I think it is important to remain connected to heritage and it was encouraging to see the support of the adoptive parents.

We had a great time and we were thankful that the rain held off so we could enjoy another amazing Kansas City experience.
