The World War One Memorial (located in downtown KCMO) is honoring the 100 years since the armistice by having a nightly display of poppies projected on the liberty tower. We decided that tonight was the perfect time to go because we wanted to keep Allison awake a little later tonight because we didn't want her waking up too early tomorrow morning with daylight savings.
The projection was really beautiful and we also got some lovely views of the downtown skyline. We won't be able to attend the annual Remembrance Day event at the Memorial because it will be on Sunday and we'll be in church so it was important that we were able to see the display.
One disappointing thing was that our car's registration sticker was stolen while we were downtown. When I posted about the theft on facebook several people commented that it was common in the downtown area. I've never heard about it before, and while it adds a lot of extra work, we are still glad that we were able to spend some time at the Memorial.
