San Diego

Late in December, Nathan and I decided to take a trip together. We had asked Martin and Marlene to come to KC for grandparent's day at Whitefield, and they agreed to stay an additional week to take care of Allison so we could go. We chose San Diego because it was a short (inexpensive) flight, it wouldn't be cold, and we'd never been there.  It was a little stressful to go on vacation in the weeks leading up to our move, but we used the time away to get on the same page about our plans for the new house.

Our first dinner out in San Diego was in Little Italy at the Ironside Fish and Oyster Bar. Little Italy was packed. It was a Monday night but it was bumpin' like it was Friday. Thankfully we made a reservation because most restaurants had lines out the door.
The weather was cooler than in KC - only about 22 degrees (compared to 28 in Kansas City) but the cooler temperatures made exploring much more enjoyable.

Our first outing was to the Spruce Street Bridge. It was located in a residential neighborhood not far from our hotel. No one was around so we took turns trying to make it swing.

We stopped at the Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve but didn't go too far on the path as there were several LARGE BOLD TYPED signs that warned of rattle snakes and cougars.
