Tonight Nathan decided that he need some guy time so he went over to his friend Billy's for a video game extravaganza. nathan doesn't play a lot of video games but I knwo that he enjoys them in moderation and it was good for him to get out of the house and spend some time with Billy (since they aren't on the same rotation team anymore).
Saturday:
Nathan had the day off today so at 6:30am we showed up to a work a yard sale that our small-group (bible study group) from Wornall Church hosted for the Lighthouse, a maternity house in Missouri. We felt bad that we didn't have anythign to contribute (we only brought one carload here, we have nothing to give away!) Instead I baked banana bread and cookies for the coffee table. It was really early and it looked like it might rain but it held off and we were able to get in some good visiting time with our "co-workers".

Although Nathan tried to dissuade me (before we even arrived at the garage sale) not to buy anything, I couldn't pass up this deal. It was a brand new wrap dress, never been worn, price tag still on! What a steal for a couple of dollars! Plus, Kristen (also in our small group who let us use her front yard for the sale) is a Star Bucks manager and not only provided coffee for the day but also had a few giveaways that she donated for the sale. I snatched up the sample pack so we can have a week of high-end coffee!
At night we went to Luke and Lauren's (Luke is in his final rotation and starts his residency in Virginia in June) for a farewell BBQ. Billy and Lisa met us there and we had burgers, sausages, and said our goodbye's. It was nice to have familiar faces around the neighborhood and though it seems every month a new Saba student moves in, we get along well with Luke and Lauren and have developed a respectful friendship - they will be missed!
Sunday:
This morning we went to church and then went to Kansas to the pastor's house for a pizza party lunch with 2 other couples. One couple, Ryan and April, host our small group on Tuesday nights and the other couple, Deliah and Matt are new to the area and are both work in medical environments (paramedic and hospital facilitator) so Nathan had a lot to chat with them about. It was a beautiful day and we really enjoyed getting out of our house.
We've already been to the pastor's house a few times and had him (or his wife) facilitate meet-ups for us with other young couples. Wornall really makes and effort for people to get together in small groups and get to know each other.
