My Dad has been overworked with Allison these last 4 days. She loves to play with him and loves that he will play whatever game she thinks up. My mom and I decided to head to Crown Center (a small mall downtown KC) with Allison, and my Dad decided to stay home.
We started at the Mr. Potato Head exhibit at Crown Center. Allison really enjoyed it. At first there was a school trip that brought in about twenty 10-year old kids (for a toddler exhibit) so Allison was nervous to play, but once they left, she really enjoyed building different potato heads in the pit of pieces that were available.
Parking was free at CC today so we left the mall and walked over to the open air courtyard to have a snack and let Allison play in under the tent where the ice rink is located each winter. Allison played on the stage with some older girls, and when they started to do cartwheels and spins, she tried to keep up, and they thought she was pretty funny.
Next we walked to the Union Station, a historic old railway station. We had lunch at Harvey's (not the hamburger chain) and then went to the miniature train exhibit. It was hard for Allison because she really wanted to play with the trains.
Since we didn't have a timeline for the day, we hopped on the new KC Streetcar that starts at Union Station. We rode it for the whole loop (about 25 minutes) and Allison really like it for about 10 minutes, but then she got bored and wanted to get off. We managed to keep her going for the rest of the trip but she was quite grumpy by the time we got off (and I had to carry her back to the car).
My Dad couldn't believe all the places we'd been or that we'd been gone all day (10am-4:30pm). I know he was a little scared because of yesterday's events, but we were all okay, just a few ladies out of the town!
