Our new pastor, Mark Carrington, arrived last week in KC. He brought two of his five (5!) children with him while his wife and the three other kids stayed with her family. The family's belongings were supposed to be delivered last week, but were delayed until this week so Mark's wife decided it would be easier for the younger kids to stay where there was furniture and clothes.
Mark has had his hands full because on top of being a full time dad, he's had to set up his house and get acquainted with the church and neighborhood. Mark mentioned to Nathan that he had a few errands to get done today and Nathan offered to take his kids to the zoo to give Mark some time off.
So this morning, the five us got in the car and headed to the zoo. I was a little nervous because the kids were older (and I know nothing about older kids) but these kids have kind, attentive parents so I knew that the day would be okay.
The kids were well behaved and Allison loved having friends to talk, play, and laugh with. We spent 4 hours at the zoo and the highlights were feeding the goats, the sky safari, and the Icees that everyone had at the end of the trip.
