Movement Class

Allison's school does a great job at keeping parents informed about programs and what is being taught at the school. Today, there was a movement class presentation done by Miss Vicki, who has been teaching at Rainbow School for 30 years! Movement class is a way for kids to learn to follow directions, build strength, and get out some energy.

It wasn't Allison's normal day of school but all the kids in the Blue Room were invited to school today to participate. Nathan didn't get called in to work today so he was able to come with me to the performance. Each classroom went on stage and went through three songs or activities that they typically do during their class.

Allison picked out her accessories today, then topped it off by rolling up her pant legs right before she went on stage. She was sitting in her seat next to a girl that she doesn't have class with (and I was across the aisle from them) and I heard Allison say, "Hey friend! Friend! Do you want to play with me?" She calls anyone she doesn't know "friend" and it's so sweet. The little girl was a little shy so Allison rocked out with her and even sat down for a chat when it seemed to be too much for the other girl.

Here is a video of Allison. She bit her lip during the first song, so she kept moving her tongue to her cheek for the whole performance.
After the performance, we took Allison out of her class and we headed to Betty Rae's Ice Cream for a treat for putting on such a great show. Allison picked Chocolate Brownie and Strawberry for her flavors, and I picked Root Beer and Lavender and Honey. They were all delicious and it made me google where to buy edible lavender when I got home.
