This morning Nathan went to a testing center here in KC to write his Canadian board exams. Although we have no plans to come back to Canada (at least not for a few years) Nathan thought it was a good idea to get all of the testing out of the way so if he did decide to return to Canada, he wouldn't have to take the test then. He's still in study/test mode so he figured he'd just add this one to the list.
The test was 4 hours, 180 questions (30 are thrown out), and Nathan said it was mid-way between Step 1 and Step 2. He said that it was almost better to write it earlier rather than after Step 2/ done rotations because you almost know too much. You over-think because the questions are too vague.
Example:
If someone has A what should you do?
Nathan started to think, well, are they stable or unstable, what are their ___________ levels?
The answer key includes both a stable and unstable possibility, he started to think what is the answer they want, not, what is the most accurate answer based on his experiences.
It's only a pass/fail exam and Nathan still thinks he did well and he seemed happy to get it finished.
Tonight we had Steve, Madison, and Melody over for dinner. It was great to have people over to the house. After dinner we headed over to their place (about 5 minutes away) because they had house guests (who just arrived). We packed up dessert (blueberry pie and vanilla ice cream) and headed over. We sat and chatted for a couple hours then headed home to get ready for a busy Bluegrass Sunday!
