This afternoon we headed out to Pleasant Hill so that Nathan could play in a kickball tournament. The tournament was held at the parent's of our (Wornall) friend, Sarah. They have an amazing backyard with a pond, a jungle gym, a gazebo, and a huge lawn. It was the perfect place to have the event. Sarah's cousin (and her family) are adopting a special needs child from China and they've been working on raising the $30 000 they need to bring Zoey home for the last 2 years. The tournament was $10 per person and food and drink were by donation. The food was great - there were nachos, hot dogs, chili, chips, donuts, water, pop, juice, cookies, and plenty of other treats.
It was a double loss elimination and all the guys from Wornall thought they'd be eliminated quickly because the other teams were younger (and more interested in winning) but they played 4 games total and made it to the semi-finals.
It was an overcast day and it was chilly but I dressed in layers and I put Allison in a knit sweater that my mother in law's friend gave Allison as a shower gift. I had a great time snacking and chatting with the other women who were watching the sport.
Nathan said he really liked it because he thought it was the perfect activity for the guys of Wornall and he thought they needed it. Allison was exhausted but managed to make it home before she passed out for the night.
